Hi everyone
Maybe someone can help me. İ am lookıng to get a residence permit.

My situation is......... İ am a Yacht Captain working on a British Registered boat out of a Feyithe. My employers are foreign. Rather than going through the process of leaving every three months İ would like to apply for residency.

İ also have an appartment but it is through a friend so have no rental contract.

İs it easy........... does my situation stop me getting one......... İs aydın the best place to go........

If you are renting through a friend you can still have a rental contract, just get a form from the stationers (kitabye - I think, but my Turkish is no good!!) and fill it in and get him to sign it.

If you are based in Fethiye, then you will go to the passport police near the Ege Saray, your application will be dealt with in Mugla.

I am sure someone else will be along shortly to give much better help than I have given.

Rather than spending a day slogging around the various offices, it pays to have someone do it for you.

I can recommend Alsi Uygun Seckin. Her office is behind the PTT next to a pet shop.

Allternatively, there's Nail Kuyucak of 24/7 Helpline Property Management. His office is behind the Garanti Bank in Paspatur.

They'll take care of everything for you. Naturally, you'll have to go with them to a couple of offices but they'll handle all the formalities for you. I can't tell you how much they'll charge, you'll have to ask them.

Before you go to them, get a dozen or so passport photos and 3 or 4 photocopies of your passport. You'll also need a Turkish bank account statement showing a balance of around £1,000 and a Tax Number. (Don't worry too much about the bank account balance. If you need to, you can deposit the money in the bank, get a statement, and then withdraw it again).
