Visitor Visa to UK

What are the chances of a business turk with two Turkish wives in turkey already obtaining a visitors visa to the UK for a holiday visit to a friend (minus the wives & kids)(accompanying another man who is being sent over here by his company) or anywhere else that matter? The man in question is convinced he can come to the UK if he is sent a letter of invitation or not at all. I personally think he is living in cloud cuckoo or La La Land. And if it is true he can then how can he be stopped![:0]

Although I have looked up the relevant sites is there anyone on this site who might be able to give me a more definite answer like 'not a snowballs chance etc' and the reasons why.

Be really grateful

Linda,

A letter of invitation does not guarantee a visa they are very difficult to getthrough so maybe he wont get one .

According to a friend who works with the British Consulate in Istanbul, letters of invitation etc don't mean much. It's still a bit of a lottery for most Turks when it comes to UK visas.

One friend of ours, who owns a business in Fethiye, has been refused twice yet another friend, who is virtually unemployed got one first time!

Linda, it's not your ahem is it? I think John is right, there is very little logic in the visa system, a lot depends on the individual's luck.

How was your holiday? let's have the low down []

Certainly doesn't appear that way Jenny. Even academic visa's are pretty difficult to get for the average Turk irrspective of what they are studying and where they want to study in the UK. Saying that, once you've got a visa it does give you unrestricted access for the duration and it's a lot easier to renew one than get one in the first place.

Currently the british consul in istanbul will not issue a visa unless they have a previous visa from another EU state. They have really clamped down lately. Also money does go a long way, and I bet those rich men from calis had yesil passports which makes it easier to go any where.

There is a stop on appliations until january.
it doesn't matter how much money you have, but a business licence helps.
If you have visited a non EU country before and have a stamp this also helps.
my hubby is going to visit Rhodes a few times before we apply even though he has a business licence.
We are hoping to tour the UK in May as every time he watches UK TV he falls in love with different areas.
At the moment most of Yorkshire (Scarborough being tops!), some of Wales and most of Scotland. Poor me who will be driving and why the hell are we going to look at hilly places when we can stay at home here and look out of the window at far better mountains.? Hey Ho !
