Re: Work permit/residency visa
Has anyone applied for a residence permit recently in Bodrum? I only ask, because now I am back from my visit to England, I want to get my residence permit sorted out. Do they still send your passport away with the application or do they accept photocopies? I ask because I may have to go back to England for one week at the beginning of January and I dont want to be stuck without my passport!! Any comments would be very much appreciated.

Re: Work permit/residency visa
since its your first residence permit then your passport will be sent off..they will give you a receipt for this to show should you be stopped by police etc. it will probably take a month...so you will get it back well before January if you apply now...do it on monday...ok

Re: Work permit/residency visa
I didnt have to surrender my passport, the police just gave me a ticket to show that i have applied for residency which i should keep with my passport. Took all day to get this far, first police station, then photo copy shop, then bank then notor, then bank (as not enough money taken out before), then translater, then back to where i started .... police station, An absolute "nightmare" Ow and dont forget the queues in the banks, just to add to the stress of what you think should be so simple and straight forward process. or does it just happen to me????

Re: Work permit/residency visa
Nope you are not on your own I think all of us at one time or another has experienced Turkish " Red tape"......
I remember one time in Antalya waiting an hour to have a stamp put on a document and when I went up to ask how much longer it would take ( it was one stamp!) they told me they where closing for the day and I would have to come back tomorrow - another journey from Alanya -ı was not best pleased. ..neither was the clerk I was in such a huff I went to see the mürdü and got my stamp...
My husband ( to be at that time) was in a state of shock.. why... forgot to mention it was at the police station.. he thought I was going to be arrested.. Instead I got a lovely cup of coffee and my stamp... Not to tried to often though

Re: Residency Visa - Bodrum
I believe a lot has to do with reciprocal arrangements between countries which dictates the end user costs.

Re: Residency Visa - Bodrum
And for someone going 2-3 times a year, is it worth getting a residence permit?
