Not really, it is currently about 20YTL per day and it's not so unusual an occurence. If you're only going to be over by a day or so, maybe worth just paying the fine as opposed to changinging travel itineries etc.
I'm not recommending a visa overstay, thats a decision you have to make.

Re: does any 1 know ???????
Well, the wife of one of our Moderators (another forum) was 5 days over and charged 100YTL at Ataturk airport, that was about six weeks ago. And the general concensus amongst our members was that the figure was about right (Turkish & Expats).
As far as Istanbul is concerned, I believe there is an official site that lists the charges, I'll try and get the link and post it.
There seems to be an awful lot of apocryphal stories about visa overstays and large fines in relation to Turkey in general. Maybe Delia's client did get charged 176YTL, it sure as hell wouldn't have been me!

I think it varys to waht airport you fly out of (which shouldnt be the case ... but we all know Turkey!)
A friend flying from Izmir (very recently) & was fined €300 for being 3 days over, & they would not allow her to fly unless she paid it!
Not worth risking it really is it!!!

Canım there is a list somewhere of the prices and if your friend was ''fıned'' 300 euros did she get a receıpt because I suspect that went in some ones pocket.

I know Bryn .. Thats what i told her!
Im sure all of it went in his pocket .. but what can you do? she either paid or they wouldnt allow her to board the flight back to Ireland.
Her own fault for letting her visa expire tho .... the visa rules are there for a reason.

I can't see the problem why not just go back a few days earlier.
