where to apply for Turkish citizenship in Turkey.

I am a USA citizen and have been married to my Turkish wife for 20 years now.. We have moved to Turkey from the United states this last june and would like some advice where i can apply for turkish citizenship. We were married in turkey and one of my parents are turkish and the other from Cyprus. Can I apply in turkey and if so where, Or do i have to go back to the states and apply there at the Turkish consulate.

Thanks in advance

Re: where to apply for Turkish citizenship in Turkey.

You would apply in Mugla if you are in Bodrum.

City Population and Citizenship Directorate (İl Nüfus ve Vatandaşlık Müdürlüğü) is easily found on the roundabout. Go in to the Valilik turn right to the end of the corridor.

If you go here you can download the application form and take it with you.

Vatandaşlık Formları - http://www.nvi.gov.tr/Hizmetler/Vatandaslik.html for details and application form.

Re: where to apply for Turkish citizenship in Turkey.

Just got a call from the Local Police Department who said they were woking on my passport. Went and met with the officer in charge and had a small 5 minute pow wow and was told he was approving my passport and I should be a citizen in about 30 days. Can't believe it was so fast and easy. Now I can work where I want without any hassle!!! SWEET!!!

Re: where to apply for Turkish citizenship in Turkey.

Being that I have turkish parent's who still live in So Cal It's not really that hard of a choice
when you at look at the dollar and sense. Even though I am a So cal native I guess that i can give Turkey a try. My wife is from the town we moved too and it is on the Black sea. I am going to be an English teacher at a private school and I am Glad to be out of the rat race for a few years. Met a couple fellow yanks here and so far life is great. I have a nice 4 bedroom in an ultra LUX apt and for 500 u.s.d per month. have full view of the sea 200 yards away. I want live in Bodrum within the next few years.

Yes I am very sure. In fact the officer that approved my passport came over for tea this evening, Really nice guy. In addition being married to a turk for 20 years and getting married in turkey and speaking fluent turkish helped the process a lot. He said his decision was the final veridic and I should be a citizen in 30 days. I will keep you updated.
