Visa Price Increase?
Extract from today's Turkish Daily News:
'An increase in the price of oil and tension on Turkey's borders will have a negative impact on tourism industry expectations in Turkey, said Başaran Ulusoy, president of the Turkish Association of Travel Agents (TURSAB).
Başaran indicated that this year's reservations did not match last year's figures. Expecting the negative figures to rally towards the end of the month, he said Turkey was a country of tourism, a sector that is inherently risky. “We went into this season with numerous problems. Bird flu was one. And then came the Iranian crisis. More importantly, there are crises that are not so apparent, ones that really count, for instance, the price of oil, which went up 120 percent from $30 to $75 per barrel. There are things, of course, that are directly influenced by such increases. Faced with the skyrocketing price of oil, the government responds by increasing the entry tax, which is one more negative effect on flight reservations to Turkey. According to our projections, we will lose 4 million tourists this year. And there is no such thing as foreign tour operators working against us. German or Spanish, all a tour operator is interested in is making money. This is the main idea in a business in which there are no boundaries.”
Anyone aware of an impending increase in entry visa prices from the current £10 per person?

Re: Visa Price Increase?
Shoot me down if i'm wrong but I think I was told once that the reason flights to Turkey were expensive was because of the ammount of entry tax the airlines were charged to land here....could this be the tax being mentioned and not the personal entry visa as of course this would have a direct impact on us anyway as the airlines would simply increase airfares to cover these costs

That is the big con the consulate has going to stiff people. There is no need to buy a residents visa what so ever.
So many people go there, spend a fortune getting to London, get stiffed for 75 quid per person, only to find out they still have to register with the local police when they arrive in Turkey and pay again for the residence permit (Blue book).
Basically if you have 75 pounds to burn and waste then please, goto the consulate.

Re: Visa Price Increase?
Looks like they need to correct whichever is the error as the footnote 4 states £10.00, and as you correctly pointed out the link takes you to a page with a completely different amount. Guess a phone call is needed here to clarify the situation.
My daughters have just returned from Turkey and they paid the usual £10.00

Re: Visa Price Increase?
Im hoping is the higher charges that are wrong, it wont do them any favours, family of 4, 1 holidays a year 152.00 instead of 40.00 that will go down like a lead ballon...

Re: Visa Price Increase?
I'm no expert, but on looking at the site, it seems to me that the more expensive fees quoted are applicable if you obtain a visa direct from the Turkish Consulate.
The £10 fee is the tourist visa charge (for 3 months entry - as mentioned in note 4) and is paid at the port of entry i.e. on arrival at the Airport in Turkey.
