Can I leave on an ikamet and come in on a tourist visa?

My residency permit runs out next month and although I have a work permit and will be getting a new work permit there is a problem with my paper work and I am concerned about getting everything back in time so I can go to the UK in January.

I'm thinking of going to Bulgaria soon - leaving Turkey on my residency and getting a tourist visa on the way back in. Is this possible? Does the whole 90 days out of 180 days apply if you were previously on a residency permit?

You can leave Turkey on showing a valid residence permit, then return getting a 90/180 day passport visa stamp. Just remember NOT to show your Blue book on returning, just your passport & visa stamp.

Thank you. I guess I will go ahead with that plan though just to cover myself.
So my next question is this: will I be forced to pay for a new blue book when I go to renew? Even though I already have one with plenty of empty pages?

No ,you can reuse your old Blue book even if you have breaks in dates.

Re: Can I leave on an ikamet and come in on a tourist visa?

I'm in a bit of bad situation at the moment. My ikamet is getting renewed next week on the 28th even though it's valid until next month.
Months ago, I planned a trip to Athens on the 30th of January and the immigration department won't have returned my Ikamet by then.
What can I do? I have a work and a residence permit both valid. Can I leave the country without it? What are my options? Any suggestion is welcome.
Thanks!

Residence permit, the blue book, is your ikamet and what you enter and leave the country with if you don`t have a visa. Look on the front of your book.

Or am I misunderstanding the question ?

Would not have thought that they would allow you to leave without showing your ikamet . Have you spoken with the renewal office and explained your problem . They may be able to speed up your application or give you a temporary document you can use since your existing RP is still ion date.

Re: Can I leave on an ikamet and come in on a tourist visa?

Normally when you apply for a renewal, the Polis make you sign a piece of paper which states you are not allowed to leave Turkey until your blue book is returned to you. When leaving Turkey you have to show the immigration polis either an in date residency book or an in date passport visa .
The only way around this is if your residency is still valid on the day you want to leave,do so showing your book to immigration, then on your return do NOT show your residency, just go & purchase a 90/180 visa and enter on that, then when back apply for your renewal. It doesn't matter if there is a break of dates in your book, you can still reuse it.

Re: Can I leave on an ikamet and come in on a tourist visa?

Thanks for the answers. I work work a school here, they made the appointment for me 2 days before I'm due to go to Greece. So I won't have my blue book on that day although it is still valid until February. My question is:Can I leave the country without it? Am I not in their system? Doesn't it say somewhere that I am legaly in the country?
Again, thank you.
