Paying tax at airport to leave Turkey.

Hi my daughter and turkish husband are flying to England in Dec, he has been to england before and had to pay a Tax at Izmir airport.

They are flying from Dalaman to Istanbul with pegasus and then flying with the same airline to England. You dont get a lot of time to get to the International terminal to catch the other flight and was wondering where he would pay this tax, would it be near passport control area. Not sure what it would be called I know he knows the name of it.

I do not suppose this payment can not be made at the Domestic terminal in dalaman, to save time?

Many thanks Sue.

Maybe it's just me, but what tax is it that you are referring to?

There is a desk beside the check in counters at the International Departures. No need to worry.
Its an exit tax for Turks.

Hi Sue, your husband will need a exit visa that cost 15ytl as that was the price last year as my wife is Turkish and you can obtain from domestic, but when he asks for it that is when you will get the run around.

We pay to come in, Turks pay to leave, it wasn't so long ago it was over 100 TL.

Hi would be better to do at the domestic terminal as they would have more time there, someone also said you can do it by the check in desk at International Terminal, but they dont have to check in again they would have to go straight to the gate to board their next flight. I suppose the airline would be able to point them in the right direction when in Domestic. Just realized you probably mean at Istanbul to get it not dalaman domestic terminal.

My husband paid his exit tax (15TL) at the Deniz bank in the arrivals hall in Dalaman international terminal last month. Not sure if there is anywhere to pay in the domestic terminal.

Re: Paying tax at airport to leave Turkey.

Beware if buying duty free when flying back to england. If on a transit connecting flight they will confiscate any liquids. We bought some alcohol at Istanbul, flew to Gatwick to fly on to Newcastle and the booze was taken off us. with hindsight could have put them in the case because we had to collect our luggage prior to check in at Gatwick.
