Temporary Passport

Hi I was wondering if anybody had ever been issued with a temporary passport whilst living in turkey? the reason I am asking is because I am renewing my residence permit and I don't think that I will get my passport back in time to travel to the UK for christmas.I have been informed that I could apply for a temporary one if thats the case, but having looked on the izmir consulate website, they don't deal with passports, thank you regards can 1

Re: Temporary Passport

I would try emailing them. They did help us several years ago in a family emergency when my daughter didnt have a passport but i know that things have changed since then.
Residents permits should take longer than 14 days i think you would be better going to the police station with you flights details etc and explaining the situation.

Re: Temporary Passport

Are you saying you have put in an application for a Residence Permit?. If so you are not allowed to leave Turkey while they are processing your application.

Re: Temporary Passport

Fairly sure you can't get a temporary passport unless you have reported your original one lost or stolen. If you have not already applied then best thing is to let it expire whilst you are out of the country then come back in on a £10 tourist visa then apply when you have more time.

Re: Temporary Passport

Thought a temporary passport was a "get you home " expedient . I agree with Isla go to the police station and see if they can expedite.

Re: Temporary Passport

In the past you were allowed to have two UK passports, duplicates in effect. Do not know if this is still permitted or how you applied for it, my stepmother who worked in the airline industry had two. The reason was so you could visit a country such Turkey and Greece or Israel and Egypt for example, using one passport for one country and the other for the other.

As Redders states, you can't leave the country whilst the application is in process.
