Question Turkish Visa / Residency question

Hopefully this question can be answered for me please. We visit Turkey usually twice a year, the first visit sometimes lasting the full three months. We travel on our British passport for this visit. We then return for a shorter visit on our Irish passport for about a month or so. As duel passport holders we understand that this was totally acceptable to do so.

With the new introduction of e visas I wonder if this will be permitted to continue as having checked the application page the only thing different I would be entering would be the passport information. Perhaps the system would recognise that this is the same person travelling twice within the limited 180 days.

If I were to apply for a Residents permit under my Irish passport what would the costs be for the RP and blue book.

Just not sure what I should do and don't want to find myself in conflict with the authorities.

Thanks for any replies.

Re: Vis / Residency question

Irish pport holders only pay for the blue book. They do not pay yearly residency costs.

I have heard of people operating this way before and whilst its perfectly legal to hold 2 pports the 90/180 applies to the pport holders time in Turkey- not the pport so it may well be if this was questioned you could be risking a considerable fine/ban

Re: Vis / Residency question

Thanks for that. That is what I would be concerned about. It hasn't been a problem before but maybe that was because of the fact that it was just viewed at passport control as another passport. Is the process straightforward and what would the cost of the application be. Sorry but I have no idea.

Re: Vis / Residency question

Sorry forgot to ask, If I get a blue book does it cover one person or can it cover more than one person. Also how long does the blue book last for. How much is it and where do I get it.

Re: Vis / Residency question

Ok then forget about Bluebooks etc for now.

The new system is allegedly going to be a short term RP - up to 12 months at a time. Details still not finalised/ revealed. Watch this space

Re: Vis / Residency question

New RP system starts on 1 April . Essentially same as before but the maximum period you can get is 12 months. In the UK new applicants have to apply to the Turkish Consulate.
