Re: Turkish Citizenship

Hi thanks for your responses.

I am just so confused and ANGRY! I have already submitted my docs, it was after, in a kind of 'oh by the way'...type of thing. I still have the list of things requested...its not on there.

Obviously they already have the information because it was requested before I got married and I submitted it.
You can clearly see my parents names on my residency booklet

Just another way to get more money out of you in my opinion.

Im not in a 'foreigner' populated area so I am not sure as to how they are going to go about doing this, when we asked not many people knew the procedure.

oh I dont know,I've emailed the consulate asking for advice.

I am married to a turk and they told him he didnt even have to be with me when I go back for interview. They never said anything about any police checks etc etc.

(sigh)

Thanks again

Re: Turkish Citizenship

I don't remember getting any documents apostillised, or even translated. A few weeks after the original application, I had a five minute visit from a couple of young and friendly plain clothes police; then a couple of months later an interview, where they bemoaned my poor Turkish. Then about 6/7 months from the start, I received a letter telling me to go and collect my identity card from the local Nufus.

Just checked, August 2012, so the whole process took just over 6 months.

Re: Turkish Citizenship

The procedure for men is quicker as they don't usually expect you to earn your living as a prostitute, the reason for all the checks etc, as many eastern european women use it as a way to do just that. When İ had my interview there were 25 clients and only two
were non eastern european and İ was told that was normal and most days all were eastern european women.

Still waiting they say any time now but then İ didn't have a workpermit and that seems to speed the process a little.
