Visa confusion

Apologies of this has already been covered but under the 90/180 rule can you buy a new visa before the old one has expired so you can manage two visits of 8 weeks May/June and September/October in the same year.

Re: Visa confusion

No.

Is that 2 lots of 8 weeks = 16 weeks in total?

Even if you did get a new visa you will be caught out by the `rollback` system.

Yes 2x8 I wondered if we bought one at the airport, as we are still allowed to do apparently, in May I could just buy another in September.

Re: Visa confusion

I dont think it will be allowed as you will still have a valid visa running. Even if you did you would be fined for overstaying by 22 days and possibly a ban from re entering.

You need to get your dates sorted using one of the visa calculators.

Re: Visa confusion

What if you bought an electronic visa say starting on 1st Jan which lasts until the end of June even though you would not be going until say April for 8 weeks and then buy another starting at say start of July and running until the end of Dec while you go say September for 8 weeks surely that's within the rules? Both would last for 180 days and you could then visit twice for up to 90 days at a time?

Unfortunately in this case it's not so much the start dates of visa(s) that's important, it's the length of time spent in Turkey on the day you leave i.e. when they start the 'countback'. How many of the last 180 days before that date that has been spent in the country? This must not total more than 90 days (and this can span one or two visas) if you wish to avoid fines, bans etc

Re: Visa confusion

As visas are now done on the internet is it possible to buy a new visa to start the day after the old one runs out even if you are in turkey so long as you stay within the 90/180 day rule

Its just the same as before. You have to leave Turkey on the 180th day and stay out for at least one night. Presume you mean stay within the 90 in the previous 180 day rule counted from whenever you leave.

Re: Visa confusion

Thanks thinking of going out in late April for 2weeks then again in June/July for 3/4 weeks then again for 3/4 weeks in September so will be within 90 day rule but will probably be outside the 180 day rule didn't fancy having to go to kos for the night so just trying to work out how to do it

Assuming you enter 24th April, your 180 days will be on the 20th October so you might be OK.
Your stays will be approx 70 days having 2, 4,and 4 week stays.
