Turkey-Cyprus visa run

Plain sailing?

My (Japanese) wife and 3 kids expire their tourist visas this Monday. Plane tickets to the nearest EU territory, S. Cyprus will break the bank so I'm considering hiring a car and driving them to Tasucu, taking the ferry to girne, then crossing over to the south, stYing the night then returning back over to the north for a fresh 90 days.

How feasible is this? Has anyone done it before?

Searching online brings up conflicting experiences from people.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT

UH OH! The penny's dropped! You can't do visa runs anymore...

Well I am new, and confused...

Re: Turkey-Cyprus visa run

You can still do a visa run as such, but you now also have to count backwards with your turkish 90 days.

Try searching for Juco's 'Visa calculator' (the latest/current one)
I believe that has a count-back facility now built into it.

Really? But what about the 90 day in, 180 day out rule?

You've lost me on the counting backwards thing.

Googling now.

Re: Turkey-Cyprus visa run

You have not said how many days in within the last 180 days you have spent in Turkey.

If you only spent say 20 days in the last 180 days, then you can only stay for 70 days within the next 180 days.

Once your 180 day visa expires does not mean you can't have another another one for a set period.
You can have another one after the old one has expired for 24 hours the same as the old visa run, apart from the 24 hour wait.
But the 90 day period is counted as both going back and forward from the start of the new visa.

Yes it gets or seems to get very complicated, since the new ruling.

OP states for a "FRESH 90days" does that mean you have just stayed 90 if so as you say UH OH!

Re: Turkey-Cyprus visa run

Yep.

Man, these things don't just creep up on you by surprise, they pounce!

Plus the calculator doesn't work on my iPad. - thanks Juco for sending btw.

There's me trusting my school would sort this out but they are Olympically inept at helping me.

I was (incorrectly) counting forward from the last time my family reentered turkey (7.2.14), having originally came in on their first visa (11.11.13).

I have 6 month residency (expiring in June). Does anyone know if I can include my Family at this stage?

If so, how long does it normally take and would a possible fine be annulled?

Thanks in advance

Re: Turkey-Cyprus visa run

I think you will find you do not need to go to south Cyprus to get your visa renewal for Turkey as TRNC have their own visa and are counted as international from Turkey. Not that that has anything to do with the 90/180 problem that you have.

You are right Laura-no need to go to the South.

It still doesn't solve the problems though. If someone wants to live in Turkey they must have a RP-or stay out of the country for 90 days at a time before getting another tourist visa.

I bless the day we managed to get out and across to the TRNC-it has it's faults-but life is just so much easier with far less hassle.

Re: Turkey-Cyprus visa run

I am really confused by the visa and yes it doesn't take much but can I enter for 30 days leave 30 days and do this 3 times in 180 days?
