More visa/ permit queries

Our permit runs out next month, is there a way of extending it??? Can we use a 90 day visa by leaving the country when it expires and come back in for a month or so??? Just trying to buy some time if we need to go down this route. I'm sure I read somewhere that it has been done but can't find it now.. Thanks a lot. Sue xx

Re: More visa/ permit queries

You could do that Sue but then I suspect your Residency application would be treated as a new application as you must renew with 10 days of expiry. New applications have to be made in your own country so I think a non starter.

Re: More visa/ permit queries

i think there must be a difference between 'first' and 'new' RP applications. Even with the new rules, they will see that you have previously held the permit and are not a 'first-time buyer'. It was certainly ok in the past to break your RP with a visa as I know a couple of people who have done this to avoid their renewal date being very close to Christmas and thus messing up their travel plans. I would be interested to know what you find out though, as my husband is going to have to go down this road at the end of November or else have to stay here on his own at Christmas!

New applications having to be made in your own country are on hold I believe. When I looked on the Turkish Consulate London page a few days ago they are saying that applications for RPs have to be done in Turkey.

Re: More visa/ permit queries

If we decide to move to Northern Cyprus we probably wouldn't be applying for a new residency anyway, but as ours expires at the end of May ( bet its all sorted by then), we just could have done with a few extra weeks breathing space to get ourselves organised. Sue xx

Re: More visa/ permit queries

Sue,if you intend to sell your car before you go,don't forget you need a valid RP on the day of sale, then you could get an evisa after that and stay a bit longer .I'll rent you my scooter to tide you over if you like!!...lol..x
