Re: Welcome - but how did you get here?

gemerley , It will be extremely difficult for your other half to get a Visitor visa to enter the Uk. As Turkey is not part of European countries, (and will likely never be!) any non EU country citizens are given a really hard time unless they have travelled internationally before they get it, otherwise be prepared for disappointment.

Standard info you will need to supply:

"a current passport or other valid travel identification
2 passport size colour photographs
evidence that you can support yourself during your trip, eg bank statements or payslips for the last 6 months
details of where you intend to stay and your travel plans - you shouldn’t pay for accommodation or travel until you get your visa
You need a page in your passport that’s blank on both sides for your visa."
https://www.gov.uk/apply-uk-visa#before-you-start

You yourself will need to send a sponsor letter, and if asked details of your salary, last 6 months bank statements etc too.

The UK govt automatically assume every individual that visits will not go back! so younger individuals (of working age)are generally refused, unless they have extensive travel stamps on their passport or wealthy businesses.

Of course, I may be wrong and perhaps those with other halves in Turkey who have successfully entered UK for a 1st UK visit may be able to share their experiences.

Good luck!

Re: UK Visas for Turkish citizens

Thank you newhorizon.... we are aware it is not by any means an easy process, we are fortunate to have lots of friends and family who have been through the process already so we are not entering into it lightly, including his brother who is married to an English lady and they have 3 children so we have lots of advise and support thankfully x

Re: UK Visas for Turkish citizens

Oh that's good, then you have first hand experience.

Did his brother get a Visa? assume that would have been a family visa to visit family? whereas I guess yours will be short term visitor visa perhaps?

I have friends and family in a non EU country e.g. India and know straightaway who will or not get in from my set of family and friends and this is despite me sponsoring and providing my place to live and them having adequate funds! It's annoying!

Re: UK Visas for Turkish citizens

It is difficult for Turkish people to get a visa but many have managed it. I am married to a Turkish man he has dual nationality now. Every individual case is different.

Good Luck

Re: UK Visas for Turkish citizens

His brother came first on a holiday visa and now I assume a family visa. We only wanted him to come over a couple of weeks for christmas and new year as his national service (which he is doing late admitidly) finishes in November and we thought it would be a nice holiday after.... however if it is refused I will go to Istanbul for christmas and new year instead it would just have been a nice break for him.

Re: UK Visas for Turkish citizens

We have done this several times and you have to include loads of stuff lots of which is not mentioned on the advice site. You can look at a site called Turkish love you will have to join - it is not a dating site but a site for women married to or in a relationship with a Turk. Great and update information from people who have done it.

Can send you what we did if you want pm me.

Re: UK Visas for Turkish citizens

Thank you tosmur... I have many Turkish friends male and female who have visited the UK on visitor visas, all with different experiences and stories so your right, each case is different, I also know a few who are now settled here in the UK and again each case was different

Re: UK Visas for Turkish citizens

His brother probably has a family visa as his children live in Uk.

Still, go for it, you have nothing to lose (except possibly visa fees and a bit of time)
With your other family connections you should be ok and would suggest you also join the other turkish site as suggested from people who have done it already.

Do let us know how you get on! All the best.
