Re: residency

I believe (and I am sure if I am right or wrong, some one will correct me) that if you have residency and you are out of the country for 6 months or more, it becomes void.

Sorry to disagree simpsons but I think like Saoirse says it'll be ok if it's under the old 'blue book' system. I think what simpsons says is what is the case under the supposed new system

Re: residency

This article says "as of 11 June: New residency 120 day rule out of the country and your residency is cancelled.
Email………. just had a reply from GOV UK. They state the 120 day rule should only apply to new residency and it is NOT retrospective. But contact the GDMM as well"

Seems as if you have the blue book you are OK, good luck and let us know what happens at passport control.

Re: Turkish residency question

This rule will not come into force until next April.
I have taken 2 people in Bodrum to renew their R.P.'s who both had been out of Turkey for over 6 months last year & they were accepted for a new permit.

That was under the old ikamet with blue book. The new RP with ID card, which has started, has the 120 day restriction.

Re: Turkish residency question

Even under the new law your RP would still be valid it just means that if you stay out of Turkey more than 120 days you can't just renew it when it expires you have to have a new application.
