E-Visa whilst Ikamet Valid??

I have a strange scenario here and wonder if anyone can advise.

I rent my home from an English man. My Ikamet is due for renewal at the end of september.

I believe now, that my rental contract is required to be notarised for the purpose of the ikamet, however, my Landlord seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. I have tried by all ways to contact him.

I am returning to the UK next week for 1 month and will come back to Turkey at the end of August - leaving me only 3 weeks before my Ikamet runs out.

Is it possible for me to come back into the country by buying an e-visa, in which case it would give me more time to sort out this situation???

Not sure of the answer ,but what you can do is go through the process on line for applying for it and if you are ok it will take your money and you can print off your visa . If there is a problem it wont let you complete . So that is one way of knowing .

Re: E-Visa whilst Ikamet Valid??

We've got a similar situation. We want to leave Turkey at the end of our RP's and come back on an e-visa after about a week / 10 days to sort our stuff out. If I do an e-visa online before we leave can I choose a date (after the RP expiry) for it to start? Any advice appreciated.

Re: E-Visa whilst Ikamet Valid??

Yes Gloria, you input the date of your return to Turkey. I applied for my friend's e-Visa on the 17 March for her holiday commencing 12 May. I have stlll got the download on my laptop and have just checked... it states her Visa is valid from 12 May 2014 until 7 November 2014.

Re: E-Visa whilst Ikamet Valid??

I had to phone them a while ago and they answered the phone within 5 mins . You get a long msg in Turkish and then it swapped to English and then they answered in Turkish . I just said English Lutfen and she swapped to English straightaway . So it is easy to ask them a question .and it was a 020 number .

Thanks for the replies.

I have heard today that the Police may give me a 3 month extension on my ikamet? Has anybody ever heard of this? This would buy me more time to track down my awol Landlord!!

I am not sure about an actual "extension" but after an application has been made and accepted by (at the moment) the police foreigners dept, the ministry in Ankara who are responsible for issuing RP's must do so or reject the application within 90 days, during that time the applicant is allowed to stay in Turkey even if the old RP has expired.

This might be the 3 months extension you have heard about. If that is the case it would not help you because your application will not be accepted for processing without all the required paperwork including your notarised rental contract.
