Residency permit new condition

Hi there

I wonder if anyone can confirm whether this is true or not? I have heard that if you have a residency permit you must stay in Turkey for a minimum of eight months per year. I don't know if this ruling is already in place or not or if it is even true. Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Many thanks

Re: Residency permit new condition

I believe under the new rule, you cannot stay out of Turkey for more than 6 months within 1 year, or more than 1 year in the last 5 years.

Re: Residency permit new condition

Under the new rules, which started this year, anyone getting the new 1 year RP can only stay OUT of Turkey for a total of 120 days during that year. If they are absent for longer then the authorities can refuse to issue another 1 year RP and will only issue a 6 month RP. This does not apply anyone who still has a valid Blue book RP.

I wonder just how many people are employed in this think tank to make it more & more complicated for us undesirables.

Its been in the new law from the beginning that anyone who spends more than 120 days in the previous year outside Turkey could find that they will not be able to renew their RP for a year , so no more complicated and it is not a definite and will not be tested until the first renewals next April.
