Renewal of residency permit new condition

Hi there

Just found out today that for the renewal of the residency permit you need to have taken a Turkish course and produce evidence of study in the form of a certificate. This is going to come as a shock to a lot of people. I wonder if people are aware of this? I've been thinking for a long time that this is coming and it looks like the law has finally changed.

What do others think?

Re: Renewal of residency permit new condition

I went to renew my permit today at the Police station and it is in the list of requirements the Policeman gave me. So no link I'm afraid. He asked me if I had a certificate to prove I have taken a Turkish language course.

Re: Renewal of residency permit new condition

Getting confused with applying for citizenship methinks. There is nothing in the relevant law about this

Jakebeak,I don't particularly disbelieve you, but to put something like this on an public forum without some kind of evidence is gonna get a lot of people worried and scared as the procedure for RP is difficult enough as it is. Where did you apply for your RP?.I have been in touch with Alanya Polis Station who do the RPs and they say nothing about Turkish Courses.

Re: Renewal of residency permit new condition

Hi there

I went to renew my residency permit at Didim Police station today (something I have done many times before). They gave me the newest list of requirements. Point number 9 states that you need to show evidence of having attended a Turkish language course with an authorised body in Turkey. I am attaching this document for other people’s information.

Point 9 (The gist of)

“Applicants must show proof of completing a Turkish course from an authorised* institution for a specified period of time, together with the student’s certificate.”

*Basically ‘authorised’ means ‘in Turkey’ (I checked in person). Didim Halk Egitim Merkezi quote ‘minimum of three months’ study’ (again, I checked in person).

So no, I am not going by hearsay but as far as I can see have the actual evidence to hand.

Re: Renewal of residency permit new condition

It does look suspiciously like the requirements for an application for Vatandislik rather than RP
