Only 34 but can't get health insurance!

Hi, I'm only 34 but am really struggling to find a company in Turkey to insure me as I'm type 1 diabetic.
My residency is due at the end of this month and I'm getting worried now as I had a broker try all the companies he could with no joy.
I'm particularly concerned because my son (4 yr old) is Turkish and if I was forced to leave then I would have to go without him, not to mention my three dogs and four cats.
Over the last seven years I have made my home here and I must admit that if residency will not be granted I have absolutely no idea where I would go or what I would do!

I know that the insurance isn't compulsory for over 65's but has anyone had any experience of a younger person who wasn't able to get insurance cover successfully applying for residency renewal?

Hi Andy. My family (mother and son) have Turkish nationality so I would need to get the appropriate visas sorted to take my son with me.
Unfortunately his father would also not want him to leave Turkey and would fight every step of the way. As the law stands now if his father "abducted" him I would never get him back.

A very sad situation Sally. There must be an equally placed person here in Turkey such as our home secrtary. If you throw yourself on his mercey there must surely be a way round this.

Re: Only 34 but can't get health insurance!

Sally, just a thought, if there is a support group for your condition they usually have access to specialist insurance. I appreciate that you live in Turkey if there isn't a Turkish group and you are British, try a UK-based group; they may be able to point you in the right direction.
Best of luck,

Kanga.
