Re: Any news about 'permanment' residency permits?

If you read post 11 of the link Any news on the new residency permit rules. you will see that a Long Term residence was issued in Izmir recently. Also about a month ago my friend and her husband applied at Izmir for a Long Term RP and are just waiting for it. They were told it might take up to 3 months before they receive it.

Just to add that it is free, but you will still has to pay 50 lira for the card. Apart from the paperwork that you normally submit they also has to get a letter to confirm they don't have a criminal record and also they had to go to the Social Security office to get confirmation that they haven't applied for or received any assistance from them.

It might be a good idea to double check what paperwork is required before you apply in case they make changes in the meanwhile. You can apply 60 days before the expiry date of the one you currently hold.

At the Consulate meeting which was recently held in Fethiye. We were told that these permits should start to become available some time next year. Thus far, they have been unable to ascertain the cost.

We will just have to be patient.

They are definitely issuing them in Izmir. Maybe they are having a trial run in just one place first?
