Yet another visa question

There have been so many threads on visas so I apologise if this query has been made already.

We need to spend 90 days in Turkey but my Ukrainian wife (exempt from visa requirements) is only allowed to stay for 60 days continuously in any 90 day period.

Is there still a loop hole whereby she can exit (eg. to Rhodes) within 60 days and reenter for a further 30 days?

Or has this loop hole been closed?

BTW I assume that the Marmaris>Rhodes ferry still operates in winter months?

Re: Yet another visa question

I am almost certain ,that cannot be done any more ( because I have done that in the past myself ) you can go in and out of Turkey like a yo yo ,but it cannot add up to more than 90 in 180 ( or different if you say its 60 for her .

Re: Yet another visa question

That one does not seem to be so clear, does it.

All the online application site says is (which no doubt you have seen):
You are exempt from visa for tourist visits of up to 90 days within 180 days starting from the first entry date.

Requirements for visa exemption:
Valid for an uninterrupted stay that shall not exceed sixty (60) days from the date of entry. However, the total period of stay in Turkey should be no longer than ninety (90) days within (180) days.

That sounds on the face of it all she needs to do is interrupt her stay (probably for one night) and then be ok up to the rest of the 90 days.

I think a bit more digging is required to be sure.

Thank you evo80, let me clarify

I have just received this mail from Foreign Affairs

Dear Valentyna,
You are exempt from visa for tourist visits of up to 90 days within 180 days starting from the first entry date. Requirements for visa exemption: Valid for an uninterrupted stay that shall not exceed sixty (60) days from the date of entry. However, the total period of stay in Turkey should be no longer than ninety (90) days within (180) days.
Best wishes,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey

My wife can stay for 60 days in 90 days.

My question is can she exit before 60 days & reenter for another 30?

Is the Rhodes (or other foreign destination) loop hole still open?

And is the ferry still running during winter?

I posted the I don't think that will work before I saw your last post . yes I think your situation needs further checking as its not as straightforward as the normal 90 in 180 .

Re: Yet another visa question

The bottom line on this is how are the border guards are interpreting and administering it.

The Foreign Affairs email just echoes what is said on the visa site, if that's all there is to it then exiting the country at any time between 30 and 60 days would allow for an immediate return for up to the remainder of the 90 days. Without being to return again for over 90 days after that.

I can't find any info to the contrary although I wouldn't like to put money on it.

No idea about the Marmaris / Rhodos ferry.

PS. I wouldn't call this a loophole. It sounds like Ukrainians have unfortunately got caught up in the whole 90/180 fiasco.

Re: Yet another visa question

I had an argument with someone about nipping over to Rhodes and so got in touch with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey to get the answer.

There are two emails and replies and they are below

My question:
My friend is in Turkey at the moment. Her problem is that her visa expires on 21st October and her flight does not leave until 23rd. Can she get a new e-visa while still in Turkey to start from 22nd so that she would be covered for the 2 days OR can she leave Turkey and go to Rhodes on 21st and then get new e-visa on 22nd and return to Turkey and then get her flight back to UK on 23rd OR perhaps some other way Any help you can give would be appreciated

Answer
You cannot apply e-Visa while staying in Turkey. The e-Visa must be same visa used on arrival and departure. If you wish to stay in Turkey longer than your e-Visa permits, you must apply at foreigners section of the migration administration. Please also note that the key rule is that you do not exceed 90 days of stay within the last 180 days as of today. Please note that it is your own responsibility to make sure that you do not violate the above mentioned 90/180 rule.
Best wishes,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey

Second Email

My question
Thank you for your prompt reply but it doesn''t answer the question about Rhodes. Can my friend leave Turkey on her valid e-visa which expires on the 21st and then apply for a new e-visa on 22nd from Rhodes which will then cover her until her departure on the 23rd. The 90 days in 180 does not come into it as she hasn't been in Turkey long enough to warrant that.

Answer
If your friend have not filled 90 days of staying in 180 days, she may leave Turkey to Rhodes and get a new e-Visa in there and can return to Turkey with her new e-Visa starting from the date she intend to enter Turkey again.
Best wishes,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey

Slightly different circumstances but hopefully the answer is the same and I can forward the relevant emails to anyone if they would like a copy

Hoping this helps

Re: Yet another visa question

It sounds like the same circumstances to me ExG.

I would even go further and suggest that because she is exempt from visas she could in theory return on the same day.

That is a good point of clarification on a debate held on here previously.
