does anyone know what's happening re residency permits from 1st Jan as it seems you have to apply from own country . However turkish consulate in London have no idea when it will happen and how it will work !!!
As you have to have health insurance from Turkey and Turkish bank statement stamped ( these you have to be in Turkey to get ) . I am planning on returning to Turkey in Jan so trying to find out .

Re: Residency permit 2015

I look forward to hearing more. We have to renew our permit in July and are hoping the health insurance is no longer compulsory. However, just in case I would be really grateful for any recommendations on which Turkish company to use. If any TLF members can offer suggestions, I'd be really grateful. Thanks in advance

Re: Residency permit 2015

As I understand it you will have to apply in your home country if it's your first application for a residents permit after that you will be able to renew in Turkey.

Re: Residency permit 2015

My understanding was that the current temporary arrangements including accepting first time applicants in Turkey and applying for both new and renewals at the police stations would continue until there was an announcement that the dedicated offices for the new department were set up and 1 January 2015 was only an anticipated date not firm.

Re: Residency permit 2015

At a recent British Consulate Community Meeting here in Side, the news relayed was as Chinook has stated.

Interesting also to note that some areas around Fetiye are already issueing the new Indefinate Residency for those that have had residency over 8 years and dating them to 2099.

Manavgat are scheduled to start issueing these from April (possibly March) of 2015 from the Police Station until such a time as the new offices are designated. All sounded very positive............let's hope it works as it will make things much easier for so many of you.

Re: Turkish Residency permit 2015

Funny how things come full circle- when I applied for residency 15 years ago, I had to go to the Turkish Consulate in New York to do a pre-application before I could actually apply for residency once I arrived in Turkey. I wasn't permitted to apply until I proved I had sufficient funds to support myself (which they determined was $1000 per month), and proof of active FULL Coverage health insurance that would cover the period I was applying for. Lots of paperwork and information that was placed on file there before I even left to come to Turkey and begin the whole process again!
