residence permit renewal

Just panicking a bit at the moment. I am married to a turkish citizen & my permit runs out next week. I have just read about all these changes & just want to confirm.
1) DO I still go to the police station in Bodrum as usual?
2) What documents do I need.

Still thought I could pop along up to 15 days after the expiary date but apparently that is wrong I've been here seven years but still always mess it up.

Re: residence permit renewal

You will need 4 x photos - a copy of your Tapu - a copy of your passport and on the same page the picture page with the last date of entry to Turkey - your earthquake insurance - your health insurance - a copy of your TL in your bank account as of that date - and the police will give you a form to fill in with your name and address and phone number. You will be able to get a 2-year residency permit as you are married to a Turk... then next time you can get the lifetime one as you will have had a RP for over 8 years then.

Re: residence permit renewal

Hello. I heard,a rumour at the moment, that you have to apply for new residency permit 60 days before old one runs out. Seems excessive amount of time before old one is obsolete. Anyone update?

No you don't have to apply 60 days before your permit runs out. You supposedly can apply 60 days before your permit runs out but I am unsure whether all police stations know this!!!

You can apply up to 60 days before your RP runs out but , unlike the old Blue Book, there is no period of grace after it runs out

Re: residence permit renewal

As with everything else in Turkey it varies from place to place and day to day. I'm married to a Turk, we were NOT asked for any proof of money, income or tapu or dask. We DID need 5 photos of me, 2 of my husband, my passport & photocopies, SGK proof, marriage book copies and we also needed something from the court stating that my husband has no criminal record but this you can get easily online and just print it off.
We WERE told that you must apply before the day your old ikamet runs out and have the correct paperwork in order by that day.

''CORRECT PAPERWORK'' = Whatever the person dealing your application on that particular day says you need.

Re: residence permit renewal

Here is a link to help you, although I couldn't open the zip file to check it.As A89 says different areas different rules. If you apply early they don't back date it so go about a week before as the Antalya areas are getting their RP within 10 days, ours was about 9 days.Hope this helps.

Re: residence permit renewal

A89,you needed different paperwork to show as you may well have applied for the Family RP,not a standard STRP.
The whole reason for being able to apply for a renewal anytime up to 60 days before expiry,is if you have SGK your new RP should come back before the old one expires, therefore you would not be without your health cover. When you receive your new STRP or Family RP,you MUST go to your local SGK office and show them your new card.If you fail to do this before your existing RP expires you will not have health cover, but still have to pay the monthly premiums.

You don't need SGK for STRP
