The red PR folder

I am about to dip my toes into the PR mill pond in Didim.
I have read in some of the posts that I need a red folder in which to place all my documentation.
Do I still need to get one?
Do I need one each for my wife and myself?
Where would you suggest I can buy them from in Didim?

Thank you in advance.

Don't listen to rumours, just go to the Police station behind the new town square and they will give you the forms you need to fill in along with a list of documents required. The only thing that has really changed is the requirement for health insurance if you are under 65, and you can only get RP for one year at a time. Good luck and don't worry:)

In Fethiye the port police show you the folder you need. Same in Bodrum but a different folder. Check with port police because if folder is wrong type they will not accept the documents.

In Koycegiz we have never needed a folder, we must be spoilt.

You mean RP - Residency Permit

No need for folder but it's a good idea to have one. Entirely your choice.

Unsurprisingly, rules vary from area to area.

Martin. I'm afraid that in Fethiye you use the folder the port police tell you to use. We bought 2 in Bodrum, you know where, and they were not accepted in Fethiye.

In Didim when we renewed our residency permits there were three new requirements. One was getting a document from the local court to show you have not committed any offences and have a clean record, the second thing was something new from the Tapu office. It's a document they provide for you for a small fee. I can't remember the details I'm afraid. Someone else will know. Also we were asked to show that we had a certificate from a language school in Didim to prove we had a basic command of Turkish. Luckily we had this from the local Halk Egitim Merkesi - free Turkish lessons are available there. You only need basic Turkish. Best of luck with your renewal.

That must have been a while ago,as now you only need to get a court letter (CRC) for LTRP's & the Turkish lessons certificate was dropped last summer i believe.

That's interesting about the language course because we renewed it last October. There are still lots of people attending the basic classes here. The form we were given with the list of requirements clearly had it on there unless they've revised it completely in the space of a few months. I guess the only way to find out is to go to the Police station and ask.
