90 in 180.

My aim is to spend as much time in Turkey as possible, using the normal visa system. This gives 90 days in 180. I would like to spend around 90 days in the 1st half and 90 days in the 2nd half. Say April, May and June and then September, October and November.
To do this, I would need to apply for my 1st Visa December or early January and not travel until April, and stay 90 days. I would then need to apply for my 2nd Visa directly my 1st expired and again, not travel until September and again stay for 90 days.
Does this sound logical?
Is it OK, to apply for a visa and not use it for a few months?

The answer to your final question is yes but not as simple as it sounds. The 90 days are always on a count back from when you leave Turkey so it can be complicated as your countback on your second visa could go back to days you had on your first visa and you may have inadvertantly overstayed ie you leave on the 31/11/15 they will count back 180 from then and if you have had more than 90 days they will fine you.As I said it's complicated.

Re: 90 in 180.

It isn't complicated to calculate as long as you remember Leeb the rule is "90 days in 180 counted backward from your day of departure" and as Billy Joe says you will exceed 90 days when leaving on your second visit. T check use one of the calculators around but be careful if you are close to the maximum as some do not include both the arrival and departure date. This is a good one and prepared by an esteemed contributor to this forum,Tourist Visas for visiting Turkey

Re: 90 in 180.

Got it.
You need to be out for a clear 180 days prior to your departure date to get another 90 days.

That one is inaccurate because it does not count BOTH arrival and departure dates so if a person made 3 visits in 180 days it will return a result 3 days short.

It makes the same error in calculating the visa expiry date.
I just checked that myself, I entered the visa start date as 01 June 2015 it returned "First Visa (01-Jun-2015 to 28-Nov-2015)".
But enter the same start date on the official application site (or my calculator) and it returns "01 June 2015 to 27 November 2015".

I have not counted days manually, you are probably right. Do you have a better calculator, which counts correctly? - it would be useful.
