Short term residency Turkey - help!

Hello I was just wondering if anyone can help me out. I'm currently in Turkey on a tourist visa and it runs out start of August, this week I am going to apply for short term residence until the end of September. I have tried to look around and see exactly what I need but I'm unsure. Can anyone make it clearer for me please? Today I am going to find out what blood type I am as I see that's needed on the application and also where do I go to, to get my foreigner national number? Thank you, jody

Re: Short term residency Turkey - help!

It tells you on the Application Form.Only the red boxed questions need to be filled in Black boxed of which blood group is one do not need completing. As yours is a first time application you do not fill the foreign identity box in.If on Facebook ask to join Doc Martins Surgery for Expats in Turkey and look in the files and you will find all that you need to know

You will need 4 x coloured biometric photos - show enough money in a Turkish Bank - a copy of your Tapu or a rental agreement by your landlord - earthquake insurance - health insurance from Turkey if you are under 65 years old - and about 300 TL for the pleasure -

Re: Short term residency Turkey - help!

Thank you for your help. I am actually living with a Turkish citizen so obviously the tenancy is in their name, will that be a problem? They are willing to write me a letter to say I have been staying and want to continue staying here and that they are looking after me. Like I said I only want an extra 2 months or abit less! Is opening a Turkish account easy? I saved up money before I came out here but obviously that's in my English account. Thanks

We have never needed to show DASK earthquake insurance including our recent renewal. You will need an electronic copy of the same photo to upload onto the application. They also accept a letter in the form that Jody suggests but it may need notorising.

Jody you will need to have an application submitted before your 90 days are up.

In your case you should apply for the "tourism" RP. A proper 1-year RP requires a 1 year rental contract or tapu of land ownership. See this post and scroll down until you see TOURISM RESIDENCE PERMIT:

Take your Turkish friend to a bank, give them money, open an account, funds must be shown in a Turkish bank. You will need to show $500.00 for each month you apply for (minimum 3 month application) the RP will cost 55.00 TL and you will have to pay an additional fee/tax upon your arrival at the ikamet offices.

The Turkish friends who are saying you live with them MUST accompany you to the ikamet office.

Angela,
the Antalya office told us that the amount is pro-rated depending upon the amount of time the foreigner is applying for a short-term RP.
3 months (approximately/maybe less) $60.00 USD.
1 year is $80.00 plus 55.00 TL for the card.

We paid 390.00 TL plus 55.00 TL for the card for a family, 2-year RP. That was for a USA passport, other nationalities may have to pay more or less.

Re: Short term residency Turkey - help!

The formula for the cost of a RP of whatever length is 25 USD for the first month and 5 USD for every consecutive month - hence the reason a 12 month is 80 USD (25 + 11 x5).
The 55TL charge is purely for the card irrespective of the length of RP and the cost as per the above formula.

I originally wrote: "We paid 390.00 TL plus 55.00 TL for the card for a family, 2-year RP. That was for a USA passport, other nationalities may have to pay more or less."

I looked at my receipts and temporary RP and see that the fee is $140.00 for a family, 2-year RP.

Re: Short term residency Turkey - help!

Which I think you will find follows the formula I quoted....25 USD for the first month and 5 USD for each of the following 23 months (115 USD) bringing the total to 140 USD.
