Turkish 90 in 180 Visa rule

Hi
I know this has been done to death but can someone please clarify?
A friend has just returned to UK & got fined £100 at passport control for overstaying by 38 days.
He says his visa was still valid but was told he must be out of the country for 3 months before applying for a new one (new rule in June???)
I thought you could take your 90 days in turkey in any duration's & at any time during the 180 as long as it did not go over 90 days. So effectively you could spend days 80 to 90 for example, during the last 10 days of the 180. (meaning no 3 month break before starting a new visa)
Or have I got it all wrong?
Thanks for any help.

Re: 90 in 180

It's 90 in any rolling 180 days regardless of visa as far as I know

Yes you are wrong see above post

As your title says 90 in 180 so the day you leave count back 180 days and you are only allowed 90 days stay. IF you get another visa in 3 months time and stayed a week .that would not be a 7 day in 180 as from the day you leave on second visa count back again 180 and you will see days on the first visa are included

you can get visa s that overlap but rule of only 90 in LAST 180 rules and so may have to wait longer than 3 months to get new visa, that might be part of punishment not allowing to apply for 3 months

Re: 90 in 180

It always counts back from when you leave the country at any given time, they count back over the previous 180 days and if you have more than 90 days,as they say deep sh1t,this can be a rolling 180 days if more than one visa involved.

Re: 90 in 180

The E visa is merely permission to enter and re-enter Turkey at any time during the stated 180 days. It gives no rights to actually spend time in Turkey; the facility to spend 90 in 180 days counted backwards in Turkey is a given for UK and many other countries citizens and is calculated on a rolling basis and not dependant on E visa dates whether overlapping or not.

Re: Turkish 90 in 180 Visa rule

The post says he overstayed by 38 days.

Therefore he was banned for 3 months in addition to the fine.

Re: Turkish 90 in 180 Visa rule

My understanding is you can apply for an evisa now if you wish as it doesnt matter if they overlap. What is important is the date you exit Turkey on your next visit, count back 180 days and see how many of those days have been spent in Turkey, if over 90 days then a problem.

Yes agreed . My visa said I could stay for longer ,but my days said no. I think a lot of people get caught out on that.
