Long Term Residence Permit

I am going to apply for my long term residents permit soon.

Not sure how many of you have applied for it yet but would appreciate it if you could tell me how long it took to receive it after handing over the paperwork.

I am doing mine next Spring. I am interested in the process - what takes so long? How different is the application to normal Residency?

Re: Long Term Residence Permit

Reports from members of my Surgery group show that the average waiting time at the moment is 6 months. The main difference between applying for a LTRP as opposed to a STRP is that you need to get a letter from your Kaymakams office stating you have had no state aid ,also a criminal record check paper needs to be obtained from your local court.

Re: Long Term Residence Permit

Do you have to renew your normal yearly residency while you wait for the long term one?

Re: Long Term Residence Permit

I had a friend who applied for his and he asked why it took so long. They said it is because getting an LTRP is almost like becoming a citizen. So there are additional checks they do, and those are what take a long time.

I was required to obtain those documents before I applied for my family RP. The official letters took less than an hour for the prosecutor's office (savcılık) to determine that I have no Turkish criminal record and a bit more than an hour to get a bureaucrat to say I was getting no state aid.

Why would those be the cause of the delay?

According to a local resident from the UK who lives in Kaş, the answer is no. BUT, you do have to go back, according to him, every 90 days, to get a new document stating that your LTRP application is pending. You also cannot leave the country without a document from the immigration folks.

Good luck

Thank you MiddleEarth, I was asking for a friend so I will tell her. I thought you posted the application but will she need to go to Mügla to get a document?

Re: Long Term Residence Permit

Middleearth, where do you go back to every 90 days? I am having to do mine now and am very confused, not by completing the form, but do I get the documents from the Kaymakam and the court before completing the form? Do I have to post everything to Mugla?
