Re: Blue book for residency

I thought that had been established in Bickern's post where he said
"therefore it will have to be a new application."
The confusing part was where he said " Easily done online for the standard short term. and no appointment needed."
Anyone with an expired or cancelled RP has always had to make an appointment as a new applicant.

My point, which appears to have gone over some people's heads, was that as a new application an appointment IS needed. I was also trying to help others out who MAY be renewing their application that even though many were going via the postal route, the system may also require them to go for interview and has been doing recently for some applicants.

Again, to stop some people with still valid blue books thinking they needed to make a new application because the blue books are "obsolete", they could apply for a renewal but may still need an interview if the system did not come up with the postal option.

Re: Blue book for residency

Sorry villabaris1, but 2 friends to my knowledge have had first application accepted online, they just had to send the documents off.

One is sat with me now, so unless something has changed she definately has not been interviewed and she received her card by post to PTT office.

So now I am baffled as to the present position.

Kalkan says.

Where do you apply?
Currently all first time STRPs must be applied for in person at your local DGMM office - in the case of Kalkan/Kaş residents that's the Kaş office. You first need to make an appointment online using the official secure DGMM website, as we go on to explain below. You also need to submit certain documents and information via the website prior to your appointment.

Everywhere on net says you need appoıntment for first time so I would go with first time as you say.

Re: Blue book for residency

Maybe your friends were very lucky and slipped through the net - certainly all the well respected fountains of knowledge, including the very well respected Doc Martin on Facebook (Redders on here) has always quoted the files from the DGMM saying that all 1st time applicants must attend an interview. That has certainly been borne out by many who have done just that and have never been given a postal option - unless they were renewals.

Re: Blue book for residency

If an RP has expired by date,NOT through the 120 days rule,as it has now been abolished, then the next application will be classed as ''first application''.The applicant makes their online application and will have to attend an interview.
In some areas extension applications are back to postal, but the districts allowing this are few and far between.

Re: Blue book for residency

The Kalkan piece is also out of date...especially the 120 day rule.
However it is right about having to have an interview for 1st time apps.
