Expired Visa Fines

As received today from the Foreign Commonwealth Office, in answer to my email query:

Kym,

From the moment you have overstayed your visa in Turkey the minimum fine is 91.80 Turkish Lira and it rises incrementally each day to 179.80 for an overstay of a month. If you stay longer than one month the fine increases substantially.

The Turkish Authorities do not publish the list of fines for overstaying visas, but they do inform us of changes. As soon as we receive new information detailing the change we endeavour to reflect this in our Travel Advice pages on our website (link below) as soon as possible.

regards

Tom

Ms Who,

What sort of visa are you talking about, a Visit Visa or a Resident Visa?

Well looks like the FCO are as useless as ever.
The fines are published on the web and you can find them here

Hi Anfield - 90 Day entry visa

Starman - Thanx. Its a bit hard to decipher (or maybe its just too early!!) Am I right in thinking it is going backward so leaving in August with a visa ending in July would be a fine of: 109.80 and ending in June: 182.80?

Re: Expired Visa Fines

if your visa has expired[ like mine did] we went to turgetreis inorder to go to kos .they would not let us on the ferry ,and they told us in order to pay the fine we had to go to the bodrum ferry police ,pay the fine to them and then we were allowed on the ferry for our day trip to kos and then when we returned we paid £10 each to renew visa. we overstayed by a week ,i think we paid about £80 each fine. we had a 4 week hol but our visa ran out just before 3 weeks in bodrum [wont do that aagain]. by the way we had booked and paid for our ticket from turg but when we explained they would not let us on they repaid our money so we went to bodrum ferry the next day.
