residence visa in a hurry????
Is there anyone in the Bodrum area that can get residence visas in 3 days like the man from Marmaris? We are moving at the end of the year, but our household effects will be there before us. I believe that we need the residence permit to clear our goods through customs, is this right? We are going out in September again, but only for a fortnight, would it be possible for us to get the visas we need then? I have searched the threads already, but my head is such a shed at the moment that none of it is making sense! We are only taking personal effects, household items, no electricals except the laptop, (which will come in hand luggage) but the total will be more than 500kg I would imagine. (I read somewhere on here that would make a difference?)
We have started a company over there, would this make a difference?
Thankyou in advance for any help you can give

Re: residence visa in a hurry????
We got ours in ONE day from Aydin, just ensure you have the necessary photographs and cash, fill in the forms at the Police HQ then go and pay the amount to the Tax office(which of course is the other end of Aydin) go back to the Police with the receipt and they issueyou with the documents. Don't forget photocopies of your passport. It was easy really the whole thing was over in about 4 hours, we were there at lunch time so that put about 1 hour 30 on the affair

Re: residence visa in a hurry????
Sara, we were told the same as you, so although as Cicero says, you can apply and do the tax business etc, we still had to wait 7 days and go back for our original residence visa, but we are told you can re-new it in one day?
but, we were also told that we could not collect the goods we had shipped here from UK without residency from Izmir port, so we waited to fetch them.
Again, I know of friends who since this have obtained their goods without residency.
This is Turkey. I always get at least three different answers to every question depending who one asks............................

Re: residence visa in a hurry????
For Bodrum you would need to go to Mugla for your residence permit in a hurry not Aydin.
Personal effects can be cleared without residence at customs but household goods can NOT!

Re: residence visa in a hurry????
Thanks for all the info, the thought of not getting our passports back in time to fly home seems to bother my husband - I think what the hell, if we miss a flight it just means another week in a beautiful country! We're only sending clothes/DVD's/CD's etc. this time, I take it they are counted as personal belongings? I'm just trying to get everything we can done before we move there.
Thankyou again

Re: residence visa in a hurry????
If you go to customs in Bodrum they will give you a list of everything you need to get your visa and tell you where to go to pay etc. If you tell them you want to go to Muğla to get it yourself they can 'hurry' it through. Once in Muğla after getting a few stamps and signatures you can go home with it the same day. I got my last residents visa sorted out in one day. It is possible!

Re: residence visa in a hurry????
its an hours drive or just over 2 by bus when you take into consideration the bus stops at Milas and Yatağan.
Please also note that residence visas can not be obtained in Turkey, you get them at the consulate (also known as the biggest con). It is a permit you get here.
VGisa goes in your passport,
Permit is a blue book that serves as an ID card.

Re: residence visa in a hurry????
I wish you luck - my Blue Book took 10 weeks to renew using Mugla.
Perhaps there is a fast track if you go yourself.

Re: residence visa in a hurry????
I got my residancy permit in 1 day from Aydin but that was in 2005. I have heard though that things changed earlier this year and you now have to wait 7 days for your permit.
