problem with longterm residency website

Hi everyone,
As of yesterday and today,is anyone experiencing problems with the 'Longterm residency website'?We are able to complete to the end of 'Personnel information section 2' then click on 'next',then the system comes up with a screen with a message saying 'Technical failure has occurred in the system' followed by a long string of numbers, letters and dashes written below this message. We have been in contact with the 157 helpline several times, who have told us that the system is being updated. We have tried firefox, google and internet explorer browsers and this is as far as we get.We asked the 157 line again what is the problem?and all they keep saying is the system is being updated,so we asked when will this update be finished?and their reply was that they did not know,so it could be hours, days, weeks.Just wondering if anyone has experienced similar problems recently?,so at the moment we are stuck at getting into the system, clicking'I want to continue my application',entering application code and other details etc.Getting as far as we have explained above and once again the message comes up and we get no further.
hope someone can help
regards Tulip

Surely that would depend on the area you are applying in. Here we only have about 50 and a Shih Tzu

What would happen if your residency expired due to this problem?

Buy an evisa?

Why not print off the pages showing the problem as evidence?

Re: problem with longterm residency website

There are I.T. problems with the online application site when in English...all seems well when switched to Turkish..

If your STRP expired while an application for a LTRP is in progress, you are covered to stay in Turkey by the virtue of your ongoing application.

Re: problem with longterm residency website

Martin,
thanks for the tip,but for the moment I will not take the Turkish language route for the reasons given by the 157 line earlier today. After several more attempts at a local restaurant/emlak office and also at home,I called the 157 line again and this time they seemed a bit more informed on the situation.
1)The system was still updating and this was the reason for my failure to be able to advance through to the end.
2)The unfinished update prevented everybody from completing.
3)I think he said the reason for the update was to prevent faults happening over the Eid holiday.
4)It would make no difference which language I used,I would not be able to progress until the update was finished.
5)The update to the system will continue until finished,he could not give a time in hours or days,he only hoped that their technical department could finish it soon.
6)He suggested that I just keep trying every few hours to log on and then try to continue and complete my application.
regards,
Tulip
