Question Recent RP changes?

Ola folks!

I've heard from a friend living in Turkey that there have been some changes to the Residency Permit category.

1) He mentioned that now RP's are only renewed for a maximum of 1 year.

2) RP's are not renewed unless the primary applicant (family based RP) has a job.

I thought I'd get a second opinion. Could someone please verify?

When we were visiting in July last year, the RP law was very clear that you could apply for 2 years, and it was at the discretion of the department to issue an year or 2 year, first time RP. And close to expiration, the RP could be renewed 30 days in advance, with no restrictions on the renewal.

Thank you.

That's what was going through my head too. And the changes (if true) run counter to the Turkish government's drive to retain jobs for Turks.

Where did your friend get their information?
I didn't ask & he didn't share. He did suggest I verify.

Think forums would have been full of this if it was true. I have heard nothing and cannot believe the job issue.

Re: Recent RP changes?

So expat retirees in Turkey will no longer get RPs?

Surely not!

Re: Recent RP changes?

Maybe confusing income with work and earnings, do you need to prove financial self sufficiency?

Good point!

I was hoping some of the folks here could chime in who may have recently renewed their family based RP.

I hope it is false too. We are kinda in a similar boat...are looking forward to relocate to Turkey.

I've contacted an RP agency that handles such things and when I hear from there, I'll post here.
