Ikamet-residence permit- for Chinese nationals

Hi everyone, I am a Chinese national and I am going to apply for the first time, for a residence permit for tourism purposes.
Somebody has suggested me to hire a lawyer or a visa agent because the application could be more problematic for Chinese citizens.
I wanted to ask if there are new regulations or restrictions for applying for a one-year ikamet and eventually difficulties for Chinese citizens.
Do you have any recommendations in regards or could you suggest me a visa agent/law office that could handle all the application?
I would also be glad if you could share your experiences.
Thank you in advance

Welcome Jayson. Normally a lawyer/agent is not necessary for a residence visa application. As far as I know there are no new regulations or restrictions, as long as you gather all documents and supporting evidence you should not have an issue. In which city are you applying?

Thank you Ibrahim.
I will apply from Istanbul. My concerns is language barrier. I have heard that besides proving to have sufficent funds, I should also get a tax id, open a bank account and notarize my housing contract and on 30 days visa time could be tight.

Hi Jayson, welcome to the forum. Yes, you need to open a bank account and get a tax number etc. Do a Facebook search and look for Doc Martins expats in Turkey page. He has extensive files on everything you need to know, including applying for a residency permit in Istanbul. Good luck. xx

Re: Ikamet-residence permit- for Chinese nationals

OPENING AN ACCOUNT WHEN NOT HOLDING A RESIDENCE PERMIT..
Some banks you approach may insist you show your RP before they will allow you to open an account with them. This may be that bank’s policy or more often than not it can be just that particular branch. For example a Teb,Ziraat, HSBC etc. branch you first approach may refuse you,but another branch of the same bank up the road may accept you.
So if you don’t yet have an RP,walk away and approach another bank, there are many to choose from who will allow you to open an account with them showing just your Tax no. , Passport and some may ask for a utility bill from either the UK or Turkey.

So some banks want RP already in place to open ,and some don't .

Re: Ikamet-residence permit- for Chinese nationals

Thank you for your suggestions. The bank system in Turkey looks more flexible than other countries, where is impossible to open a bank account on a tourist visa.
I have a question regarding rental contract.
I will be sharing the same apartment with a friend who will also apply for a residence permit.
In this case, Do we need two separated rental contracts, or do we need just a rental contract in the name of two of us?
