Pink flamingos at Tuzla Lake

We have just been down to the waters edge at Tuzla to see the pink flamingoes. There are hundreds at the moment. First time I've seen them for 4 years now.

Super sight.

Re: Pink flamingos at Tuzla Lake

Now I really am feeling homesick - sick of home that is

We saw them when we were over for the new year 2008-09 and it really was one of those sights that you will never forget - magical!

Re: Pink flamingos at Tuzla Lake

there were about 70 on the lake in october.we walked down several times to try and get photos . the only one i could get close enough to had a broken wing .even with a 500mm telephoto lens i couldnt get a decent photo .
for any birdwatchers ther are lots of other species to see.
dont know if the pollution from the fishfarms has any effect on the shrimps and crustaceans that the flamingos feed on .maybe there is a resident expert out there somewhere.......... chris

A sight I love to watch in Yalikavak, is just behind Morgul Antik, in the time just before dusk, hundreds od sparrow come to roost in that huge tree at the top of the village opposite the pharmacy, it's a sight to behold. Also on the beach here, when thousands of starlings do their dusk roosting flight, it's just awesome.

Did anyone watch Countryfile on the BBC last night?, that was a spectacular flight of starlings too.

Cannot wait for springtime when tey're all busy home-making again.
