Review of Lakeside Garden - Tuzla

Well where do I start?

I've been back in the UK now for almost a month and only just found time to write up a little review!

This was my first ever trip to Turkey and I'll be honest, I'd never really considered Turkey as a holiday destination....how wrong can a person be? I loved every second.

The weather, the food, the scenery, the people oh and did I mention the weather?

Lakeside Garden, in itself, is outstanding. The pools are superb, the complex is extremely well kept and the on-site restaurant is great. I don't think I've ever been as relaxed as I was during my stay there! We did a little bit of getting around and ate at Royal Heights, My Beach and the restaurant on Zergul Kent. The Royal Heights restaurant was ok, we ate there a couple of times, the first time the meal was excellent, however on the second visit it wasn't so good. They also had a wasp problem, which was slightly off putting as I react like a little girl whenever one comes near me!

Couldn't believe how cheap the Zergul Kent restaurant was, in comparison to the other restaurants near by. I didn't realise just how much of a walk it was though, very testing in the heat!

We also took a boat trip on the "Milky Way", which was the highlight of the holiday for me. We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome by the captain and his mate - and the food was delicious too, considering it's all made in the tiny kitchen on board! Plenty of stop offs in quite secluded bays where you could jump off the boat into the briny.

The Dolmus was an experience! Jumped on board a few times to go into Bodrum. It's not ideal, but it is what it is, cheap travel!

We were there for the end of Ramadan and sitting on the balcony at midnight, listening to the mosques calling out was unreal!

The only draw back was what appeared to be quite a population of feral dogs.

The Migros was really handy as the on site shop was very limited, however I found Migros quite pricey.

All in all, great holiday, can't wait to go back!

9/10

Steve

Brilliant post, thank you. So pleased you enjoyed your holiday.
I used to work for a tour operator, in the department that rings you to tell you there is a problem with the holiday you booked. Trying to persuade people who had never been to Turkey to try it was futile, only peole who had ever been there used to phone to book again. We often had Turkey promo's with fantastic offers that were never sold - soon snapped up by the staff though.

That great to hear that you so enjoyed yourself. It's a great area with something for everyone and the dolmus for those that want to go further afield.

I'm just curious about your comment that Migros is pricy, compared to what else? What category of goods are you referring to?

Just curious as there aren't many options in the area and some goods are relatively expensive in Turkey compared to UK prices. (that's a different discussion and a full time occupation for some :-) )

I agree tjd, I find Migros to be very reasonably priced, especially the fresh meat. We did a huge BBQ back in the summer and the price per head worked out very reasonable indeed.
