Trip to Kos

Hi all, I wondered if anyone could help me, we will be back over in July/August with some friends and would like to go for a daytrip to Kos. How much would the trip cost per person, how long does the boat take (has I'm not that good at sailing !!!) and once we have arrived there is it near the shops/restaurants/beaches or do we need to take a taxi to the aforementioned places ? Thank you in advance for your replies.

Don`t know about the cost these days but its about an hour or so from Bodrum and you are two minutes from the shops.

Re: Trip to Kos

I think they're advertising 20 euro for a day trip currently - but usually 15 in tourist season.

Re: Trip to Kos

i do not know if they still do it ?. When we went on the ferry from bodrum to kos you could buy tickets on the ferry for a coach trip round kos . The coach ent up and up to a small village with shops & cafe,s & stayed there for a while to give you a chance for a meal and look round . Then as it went down it stopped at some ancient places & got you back to Kos town in time for a walk round . The coach was just by the ferry . Well worth it if you dont want to hire a car .

That sounds fantastic Evo, I do so hope they still do the trip. I know this will sound daft but does shops accept lire or do we need to take euros over?

When we last went ,they hate the LIRE & we were told only take euro,s . So thats what we did . The trip was good because unless you hire a car you wont see much of the island . But the coach went way up in the hills to a greek village with cafe,s & shops & gave everyone a fair amount of time to wander round have a meal or a coffee & as it cam eback down it stopped off at a couple of hitoric site & still got us back to the town in time for a wander round and a drink vefore the ferry went back to Bodrum We had a coffe in a cafe near the ferry which has the tree of herodotos in the cafe front . It is so ancient it is held up with scaffolding . Try not to go on a Sunday as quite a lot is shut .
We were not aware of the trip untill we got on the ferry at Bodrum . There was a guy sitting on the ferry selling the tickests & when you got off it was a short walk to the coach from the ferry .

Re: Trip to Kos

I have just read a different thread but relating to the boat trip to Kos, in the thread someone said they had to wait over 2 hours at passport control both arriving and departing Kos. Is this normal? We intend to go in August and I don't want to wait all that time with 4 young children.

I appreciate all answers
