Re: Vita Park Golf Course

No sorry it is still shut as there is a problem with the grass. Do not know when it will be open maybe not for a year. Most people are playing at the nine hole golf course in Ortakent. So you go round twice. Hope this helps.

Re: Vita Park Golf Course

I live next door to the Ortakent Golf Club. When I first moved here eight years ago it was getting ready for business. I went in there and made some enquiries, what I discovered caused me some amusement.

There was to be a driving range which at that time was no more than a stand and an open area with a few different coloured lorry tyres scattered about to denote distances from the stand. The links itself was a six hole affair with one as a practice hole, so a five hole course. The sixth hole was to be brought into play on tournament days. (this phrase had me in fits).

A round of golf was to cost 40YTL (five holes) if you played on from the fifth and went round again it was another 35YTL. However if after the first five you dropped into the clubhouse for a drink then went out again, five holes was 40YTL. 50 balls on the driving range was 35YTL (can’t remember if you had to go and collect them yourself)

I used the driving range once or twice during 2008 but the balls were full of teeth marks and lumps missing out of them. I walked away and left them to it. There was talk of a range at Tuzla but I didn’t follow it up.

The place changed hands and closed down during 2011 or 2012, I’m not sure which but the whole area underwent massive changes and improvements and the course was extended to nine holes with the acquisition of more land. There was also a tennis court or two put in as well.

Over the years I have been to the clubhouse for Sunday breakfast and during those visits seen nobody out on the links. It seemed to get a bit busier last summer and I felt like going in and making some enquiries but didn’t get round to it until November when my eldest son came out for a short visit with my grandson. They were primarily interested in the tennis but we went into the golf club after arranging a tennis court for the next morning. I thought 30TL per hour was reasonable.

The club ‘Pro’ came and spoke to us and I asked how much for a round, “are you a member sir?” “No” said I, “do I need to be?” “It’s strictly members only” he replied.

This came as a surprise to me and I pondered whether, if I joined would I use the place often enough to justify membership. Yeah why not, its walking distance and it would keep me out of mischief……….

I turned back to the ‘Pro’ and in the meantime a woman calling herself a manager had turned up…….. “I’ve decided I’d like to join your club” I said, “how much” There was a long silence while she looked me up and down, taking in my everyday clothing and trying to see if she could see my wallet. Without even the slightest look of guilt or embarrassment she replied 40,000TL, this of course was life membership and could be sold on as a share. I’m not sure but I think I said goodbye as I left.

Re: Vita Park Golf Course

On a recent visit to Tuzla, we drove down to the vita park golf course. There were 3 security people at the entrance. I asked if the course was open or a date when the course may open.
The reply was, the course is not open and they had no idea when it would be open.
On driving back, we noticed a few ride on mowers being used and a lot of water sprinklers were on.
Just wondered if anybody knows if the course will re-open.

The Regnum Golf course seems to be progressing fast, after a slow start, in Çamlık near Bodrum. Regnum Golf Country Bodrum
