The end of Digiturk?

Got back from Dalaman last week where I had the pleasure at long last of meeting Mike and Hilary.

Whilst there, I was going to buy a Digiturk reciever and subscription, however I was told by the guy who owns the shop (and have dealt with on a regular basis), told me to wait three or four months, I had trouble understanding what the guy was telling me but the gist of it was that Digiturk would be changing or stopping and a new service taking its place. Does anyone have anymore information or shed any light on this?

It just seemed strange that a Turkish shopkeeper would stop me making a purchase in his own shop

Cheers!!

Several hundred Digiturk subscribers are now waiting with baited breath to find out what your shopkeeper meant.

Re: The end of Digiturk?

As far as I know Digiturk are moving over to a digital system similar to Sky + in the U.K. with more content "on demand" and improved encryption. It was due to be launched within the first quarter of this year, so in a few months sounds about right(!).

Don't know anything about the current system being discontinued though, that seems a bit unlikely. It will probably be done the same way Sky did it in the U.K., i.e. a gradual move with inducements for existing customers.

I've just paid for the next 12 months rental for Digiturk. Nothing was mentioned to my Turkish friend when he paid.
Will ring him and ask him to enquire.
