LCD TV with DVD

We're out at the end of next week and I've been thinking of getting a 19/20'' LCD with a built in DVD player for our bedroom.

Question is, would it be cheaper to get one when we are out here?

I can get one for £220 delivered here in the UK, so would be grateful if anyone could tell me what the chances are of getting one the same price or cheaper?

Thanks,

J

Re: LCD TV with DVD

the cheaptest lcd - without dvd - i have seen is a 26'' sony can't find lower size try a search on the google turkey site

SONY KDL26U2000 26 66cm LCD TV.
Kod: 02.02.02.002 1316 USD+KDV
2.142,97YTL
(KDV Dahil)

now I do know there is horrendous duty to be paid on something like this when you bring it into the country

i wouldn't advise you trying to sneak it in and if caught give a bribe to the customs guy (a 50ytl note folded into your passport) as that would be very naughty

the other side of the coin is if you damage it in transit or it blow up you got no come back with the maintenance unless you can find a service place that will honour your guarentee for a UK bought item

brown bear

honest, its just a very big jar of honey, ignore the power lead for a 42'' lcd trailing out of the top

I agree with Brown Bear - why bother with the hassle, buy one out there.

However I would buy a tv and a separate dvd, why? if one bit breaks down you just replace that, instead of having somting thats partly duff. Also you can pick up a dvd for around £20 but the added cost of a built-in one always semms higher

Plus don't forget to get a multi region DVD player or you may not be able to watch DVD s bought in Turkey.

Have you seen how the baggage handlers throw your luggage about a TV would not stand a chance and too bulky to take in cabin.

I agree about the baggage handlers and taking a (small) TV over.
Not a good idea.

Re: LCD TV with DVD

Well, thanks for all the replies.

Took the plunge and bought one- It will fit in a hard case in its original box, so if its damaged on arrival in Turkey we'll just take it back with us and claim DOA with the original supplier.

I'll keep those interested in doing the same updated on my return.

Thanks for everyones views though.
