Re: D Smart new digital system

We've had this for about 8 weeks. Lots of Turkish channels, both radio and TV. Sky News, BBC world, Comedy channel in English. About 3 channels show something a bit different (West Wing, Holywood wives that sort of thing) in the evenings but can't say I'm impressed. According to our local TV man we were to get lots of English films etc. in about a month - nothing! But, on the plus side you don't have to go and get it re-coded on a regular basis and yes, it is a one off payment of about 350 YTL; it also helps me in my attempts to learn Turkish!

I will stick with Digiturk then, it's reliable, get all the channels you want and no de-coding.

From what I can make out you get a few more channels than you do on free-to-air from turksat but not as many as you get on digiturk.

Do you have to install a new satellite dish or can you use existing dish? 350 YTL is ok but not sure I want yet another dish on our roof terrace.

We didn't have to have another dish put up for this system. I would say that if I were turkish then I would perhaps go for it and I think they'll improve the system as it goes along, it is early days.

Re: D Smart new digital system

Since it doesn't require a new dish and there's no messing around with changing codes I think it might be worth the 350 for all the TV we watch when on hols. Will definitely look into it if we decide not to sell the house.

Have just got D smart in marmaris, I cannot get sky news or BBC, but get 2 english movie channels, discovery, animal planet, MTV plus other music channels, fashion TV and 2 other fashion programmes, we also get CNN news and cartoon channels, eurosprt and turkish sport channels there are also about 6 english radio stations, we are quite impressed, we can add another dish for hotbird if we wish but turksat seems fine for the time being.
