Sky reception in Turkey, does it work?
Hi all,
just a note of encouragement to anybody who wants to receive all the english channels, and may have been told in Turkey that it is not possible. We had a 3m dish installed in DALAMAN a month ago,and are now receiving the Astra 2D Satellite giving us all the UK channels.BUT on the downside,be aware that the BBC Signals are week and prone to atmospheric interference.Hope this helps anybody who is awash with conflicting advice, particularly negative from Turkish Contractors who do not have the Knowledge.JC

We have the dish also but we don't get BBC at all. I think the dish cost approx £1300 and that was installation included. We wanted to have the dish in the garden but the signal was poor so it had to go on the roof. We have sky at a British address and we brought the box with us.

I am always amazed at the length people go to get English Telly, when they can have say...Digiturk. 3m.dishes? that is some ugly monstrosity. Digiturk cinema package (around 5 or 6 movie channels in English + all the nat geo, sports, premiership footie on tv8, etc. etc etc). Free dish, Free box, 75ytl installation and 39.9ytl a month. You would get over 7 years viewing for the price Gail paid for the dish. I am flabberghasted.

Totally agree! Who wants a 3m dish stuck on their roof or in their garden???
Digiturk is great. We get all the recent programmes like Lost, Prison Break, CSI etc, along with eastenders on BBC Prime and good films.

Hi,
I totally agree too. We had DigiTurk in
N. Cyprus-it was fine-enough programmes to keep anyone happy.

Re: Sky reception in Turkey, does it work?
I'd be scared one of those 4m Sky dishes would take off with my roof attached, can't see the point anyway when you can get 2 x 0.5m dishes installed pointed at hotbird and turksat with a receiver for under £140 with no recurring fees, that includes bbc choice (eastenders) and bbc world (news) you can have the receiver chipped for about £10 and get a lot more English programmes as well if you want.

don't know who could do it in that area, you'll have to ask around because strictly speaking it is illegal, on most receivers nowadays you just plug a laptop in the back. Trouble is it may last 2 days or 6 months before it needs doing again.
