Turkish TV Channels in UK
Not the usual type of question I guess, but my Turkish son-in-law is a bit homesick, is there any way of getting Turkish TV Channels in the UK?

When we were living in Belfast, we had a separate dish and receiver for turkish channels, but over time they started to disappear one by one. I dont think there are that many you can pick up now in the UK. If you're anywhere near London it would be good to phone some of the satellite gujys in and around Dalston or Harringay as I'm sure the turks living in those areas watch turkish tv.

Yes you can get Turkish TV in the UK. I can get TRT1, TRT2 and TRT3 with
my motorised dish. They are broadcast in the clear you you don't need any special equipment just a dish and a receiver. Just get a satellite installer to point a 80cm dish at 7°East and away you go.
Here's a Link for the frequency you need
PM me if you need any further info

Re: Turkish TV Channels in UK
The TRT channels are probably the most boring ones on turkish tv. They're the equivalent of the BBC. I'm sure your son-in-law would like the channels that show the popular "dizi's" like Kurtlar Vadisi, Kopru etc. Have you dont a google search for maybe "turkish tv in the uk"?

They are even more boring when you don't speak the language!
I was just pointing out the free channels that you can receive.
You can get a full subscription to digiturk if you prefer, so you can
get a wide variety of sport and entertainment too on this satellite.
look at http://www.digiturkeuro.com/ for more information

Re: Turkish TV Channels in UK
Sorry Spitfire, my comment wasn't aimed at your personally. It's just that the TRT channels are the one's who are watched the least.
If you can get digiturk in the UK, then thats great news.

Re: Turkish TV Channels in UK
Hi Lynd
You don't say how long your son-in-law is there for, if it's just a visit this may not be worth it but for longer stays....
When we last went home it was for a few months & i knew hubby would be bored rigid with my parents choice of viewing, plus he gets mardy without his fix of LiG tv (yawn). So we took our Digiturk box home with us and had a dish put up pointing at the Digiturk satellite (W3 i think) and hey presto full load of Turkish channels - we had it linked up to another TV not the main one so everyone can watch their programs with no fighting over the remote. Bit of a purlarver but now the dish is up - whenever we go back - just take the box and plug it in. There are always ways and means of getting a box if he doesn't have one
