Dsmart Tv
Is this new? It looks like a new service, but I can't work out the subscription - is it a one-off purchase for the box?
Anyone got this or who can decipher their web site for details, all information welcome.
It seems to have a better selection of progs than Digiturk (from my perspective).

Re: Dsmart Tv
D smart was discussed on another forum and the advice given was to wait and stick with digiturk for now.
The poster has lived in Turkey for a number of years and does have his finger on the pulse of what is going on.
But will D smart have the fish on the radio channels. The fish are essential viewing1

Re: Dsmart Tv
Yes, but if it is a 'one-off' purchase, I might have both.

Yes, it is a one off purchase. That is all I know, really! I know it has a good selection of channels, but I don't know if there is a language change option-like you have with digiturk.

Re: Dsmart Tv
We enquired about D-Smart a fortnight ago and the lady informed us that it costs 320ytl (one-off payment). You have 147 channels and language option on some of them like Discovery Channel.
To watch their pay-per-view movies you buy a 20ytl scratch card which let's you watch 5 films.
Hubby's thinking of buying it for himself to stop any rows about what we're watching on the main tv.

What a wonderful idea, had to sit through some real dribble the wife was watching last night, missed the Sopranos.
On the subject of D-Smart I think it is a sensible option for those who don't want to pay subscription. We've now got Turksat, Hotbird and Nilesat set up as we had the dishes and reciever already and I get about 10 watchable channels in English plus there is lots that others may find watchable (i'm not a sports fan so can't tell you how many sports channels there are). Cost wise I would suspect that cost is about the same and of course D-smart will be just one dish whereas we've added 3 to the already overcrowded roof of the apartment block.

Re: Dsmart Tv
We enquired about D-smart yesterday and were told that because we have digiturk we could just add a double LNB to the dish so that we would not need another dish.
Total one off cost to set this up with receiver etc. was 400ytl. Not bad but on investigation of the channels there is not many extra English channels to Digiturk, just Discovery and one or two others as far as we could see. So in the end decided it wasn't worth it for us.

Re: Dsmart Tv
D-Smart's pay per view scratchcards for movies sounds good - Digiturk movies a bit patchy - sometimes something worth watching but usually not! Digiturk have Salon 1 and Salon 2 channels 201 and 202 I think that do have more recent movies but they are not included in the cinema package that I subscribe to so maybe I will find out how much extra they are - does anyone already subscribe? I do like a good movie! Helen x

Re: Dsmart Tv
We've just got normal satellite at the moment, and I can watch E2, CNBCE and Al Jazeera in English which is ok (news and a few American shows) but I'd love to see some nature programmes or perhaps the odd British sitcom (in English!) - and I miss VH1 which has disappeared . Anyone know whether I need Digiturk for those, or can we get them on D-Smart? I can't actually see any difference between what D-Smart offers and what we've already got, which doesn't seem to make it worth the upgrade fee...but I could be wrong!

Re: Dsmart Tv
Digiturk gives you nature wise....National Geographic & National Geographic wild.

Also VH1 on Digiturk.
+ bags of other English speaking stuff.
