moan at Prime Tv

I have just had my annual moan at Prime TV. For those of us who live in Turkey it is one of the major stations for watching English programmes but unfortunately they repeat and repeat and repeat, not with months in between, sometimes as little as a few days. For us who like to watch TV as our main form of entertainment it is so disappointing and frustrating. We are not sports or movie lovers and there is only so much American series that one can take, so I have told Prime that I am not happy in no uncertain way. It will not do any good except I feel better for it.

I know if I could speak Turkish there are many programmes that I could watch but there we are I cannot so I am stuck.

Think yourself lucky for watching BBC at all for free!
We have to pay £135.50 in the UK for the licence fee

You are right - so many very old programmes that you wouldn't give time of day to in the UK! Have you tried internet TV - most of the English channels:

Hi Spitfire, Free you reckon I tell you nothing in this world is for free and least of all BBC Prime we have to pay Digiturk for the privilege and it is not that cheap I have just paid £193.80 for my years subsciption.

Re: moan at Prime Tv

BBC Prime drives me nuts when I am in Turkey and BBC One, Two, Three, Four, whatever drive me nuts when I am home.

As the international showcase of the BBC I think both Prime and World channels could do a lot better. The repeats are terrible on Prime and I now loathe Robert Lindsay and a have a pathalogical hatred of chickens, I'll show it something extra - paxo.

BBC World is just CNN under another name and does nothing to keep ex pats up to date with happenings in their home country. It would be nice if it had segments on British home news and British regional news as well as the constant rehash of stock market figures around the world and an overview of the weather in Bejing - their main customer isnt the international business man taking a break between lap dances in his suite in Hong Kong, its us ex pats who want to be assured we did the right thing by buggering off abroad so bring us the bad news from home! Show me the hoodies I say!

Re: moan at Prime Tv

Can I join in your moan? Though mines is the opposite. My BBC Prime has gone!! I know it shows more repeats that anyone could care to watch, but a trip to Balamory in the morning does my 3 year old daughters Scottish accent wonders! (only kidding).

Though, it is all my own fault for changing from Digiturk to the two dishes-one of which seems to have officially given up on showing anything, except for BBC World(which I don't watch)

As it stands, my Turkish lets me watch most things with much understanding. I just can't get near the telly if there is football, of any description on! Which is why I should be wathcing Desperate Housewives at the moment, but I am not. Here's hoping I can get a glimpse of Footballers Wives, just after ten.

Angie.
