Current UK TV (ITV, BBC & CHANNEL 4) on DVD in Turkey
Hi to all members of the forum.
I have just discovered how to find and record to DVD current UK television programs whilst in Turkey. I am able to record from BBC, ITV and Channel 4, most of the popular programs such as Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Eastenders, Holby City, Holby Blue, Benidorm, Lewis, The Fixer, Heartbeat and Hollyoaks, plus many more. These programs are current, not weeks or months old and will have been broadcast in the UK the week before. I felt the need to find a way to do this as there really wasn't a great deal on offer for expats living in Turkey in the way of TV entertainment. If soaps and sitcoms are not on your wish list then a lot of the broadcast programs from all three channels are normally available too.
I will be providing a weekly service with updated episodes but due to the time it takes to find and record these programs I will be limiting my service to 10 or 15 people, so if you would like to be on my list send me a PM over the forum

Re: Current UK TV (ITV, BBC & CHANNEL 4) on DVD in Turkey
There is plenty to watch here in Turkey and I download most of what I want to watch and usually get them within 12 hours of broadcast or go to the dvd shop to buy whole seasons. Then again I maybe spend about 3 hours a week watching TV as there is more to life then watching the box.

Why don't you just tell us how to find them and then we could record what we want ourselves?

Karyn UK is right ( isn't she always ), Slingbox for about £180, one off payment, will stream all your ( or your friends or families ) TV channels, over a broadband connection. All you need is access to Broadband both ends. You can change channels independently of the streaming source, so you don't interfere with someone elses TV.
Regards, Steve.

and then can you record it to DVD? If so then you have answered Harem's question.
I think there are previous threads on slingbox.

Re: Current UK TV (ITV, BBC & CHANNEL 4) on DVD in Turkey
Please don't be put off by the replies that you got about the recordings, i don't think this is a bad idea as there are some members that are addicted to the soaps but can't watch it in Turkey and some of these questions & answers have been asked & answered.
The adminitsrator (Mushtaq) has posted in the past that we should try to be nice to new members and not shoot them down before they've got a foot in the door, otherwise they will more than likely never come back.
There are quite afew members here that certainly want to speak their minds and tell it as it is, but i can see your only trying to help others that need this service and i hope these people come forward.
Again i welcome you to our Forum and look forward to reading about your Turkish experiences.

Re: Current UK TV (ITV, BBC & CHANNEL 4) on DVD in Turkey
Thankyou Andy for your support...It seems that no matter what someone tries to do here in Turkey there are a hundred expats trying to knock them back...dont know why really...
Sure you can buy a slingbox and persuade a friend or relative in the UK to allow you to use thier broadband connection and TV channels, and correct it does not interfere with thier viewing at home. However not everyone has the above...i.e a broadband connected friend thats willing plus you need a broadband connection here to use it. Yes I know knockers before you try to shoot this down too that broadband is available here but not everywhere and for sure where I reside there are many expats unable to get a phone line needed to be able to take the internet services on offer. Not used a slinbox myself so really dont know if you can record what it streams?
Of course I will charge for the DVD's do you really expect me to sit for hours decoding the source, recoding to DVD format, purchasing the blank DVD, copying the media to DVD, and supplying the finished product to you FOR FREE
If you already have your own source of UK telly fine..I think I am offering something that people will want and enjoy who either unable to do so themselves or are unwilling to invest in the equipment required to do so. After all those who use hotbird, hispa and nilesat think nothing of paying Mehmet, Hassan or Murat a fee everytime the codes change and the box needs reprogramming plus you cant get UK telly on them either.
My original post was made in the wrong part of the forum but the replies there were just unbelieveable with someone even suggesting it may be a scam!!
I have been using my knowledge to watch what I was missing from UK telly, I'm not a soap fan by the way but I do enjoy the drama offered particularly by the BBC and as these soaps are available to me I thought I would offer a "service" <----why thats quoted I dont understand and if you think UK telly is tripe then fine this is not for you either.
Bottom line I can do it and if you want to watch UK telly on DVD I'm making a small charge to provide it...I have no intention of revealing how I do it either.
