Hi I was wondering is it possible to set up a turkish satellite system in the uk to show the main channels and how would I go about it? I am in Glasgow so any help is much appreciated.

Hi Debbie, I'm not sure what you mean by a Turkish satellite system and the main channels. Do you mean digiturk? and what channels are you after?

Yes I mean digiturk and channels such as show tv, kanal d, star tv etc.

I have had Turkish sat tv for years and years. Not Digiturk though, I think the reason for that is Digiturk is pay to view (like Sky). Not sure is available in UK at the moment. However, the free to air stuff like SHOW, Kanal D etc you can definitely get here. Go to your local sat installer, they should be able to sort you out. If not, do you have a Turkish/Kurdish community where you live? If so, there are usually (in English too) free newspapers in the grocery stores/bakeries etc. Adverts for specialist installers for Turkish sat are in there. Good luck. I love the soaps, specially on Kanal D.

Yes when we were living in the UK we had turkishTV for my husband, got the number out of the local yellow pages... man came and installed dish (which is larger than normal sky one) and box etc. and that was it set up :-)

I spoke to my local installer and as you say Amber it is a one off payment, not a monthly thign like digiturk - they quoted £300 for the whole lot?

My husband does watch it online but the quality of picture is not great so that is why I was enquiring about the actual system.xx

That sounds about right. Go for it. I too have tried to watch on computer the episodes of soaps that I've missed, is irritating, the quality is poor.
Let us know when you have done it.
