Turkey passes law to broadcast TV in other languages
From Hurriyet
The draft enabling the state-run Turkish Radio and Television Corp. (TRT) to broadcast in different languages and dialects other than Turkish, has been enacted.
Under the law, TRT will also be able to employ foreigners.
The law also allows the national public broadcaster of Turkey to sign contracts, agreements or protocols with other radio and TV channels broadcasting in Turkey.
TRT can sell news reports and video footage to local, regional and national channels.
The prime minister's approval will be required for contracts, agreements or protocols between TRT and international radio and TV channels.

Re: Turkey passes law to broadcast TV in other languages
hi thurstan..i havent read that yet but its very interesting and a good step forward for turkey..lets hope the chosen language is english as its the most appropriate one...but no doubt there will be others wanting a share too.
Any broadcasts will of course be heavily censored
And of course the most obvious broadcasts will be in Kurdish..and then maybe Arabic

Re: Turkey passes law to broadcast TV in other languages
TRT or Turk Tourism Radio have employed English and Australian DJ's for a many years in Antalya. They Broadcast in English, Turkish, Russian,German, French and Greek. The news which is read from Ankara is also Broadcast in the same Languages. Now maybe, it's a different operation within the same organisation but not really that new.If you search between 92.1 and 104.4 FM. You should be able to pick it up.
