dvd and video players

Hi all,I'm sure i have read this somewhere but can't remember where..
can we take out a dvd player, video recorder, play station or is there a tax on these, don't want to get landed with a bill!
Also can we just change the plugs on these to turkish plugs or do they need some kind of regulator or something, saves having convertors plugged in everywhere.

I dont think you can change the plugs. Our plugs have a 3 core twin & earth cable, Turkey just have twin cable NO earth. I may be wrong tho.

Moe, I think there is a tax on these items, but most people seem to take them without any problems, you can change the plug on these to the local Turkish ones, or use a three pin to two pin adaptor if its only temporary.

Most items such as dvd and video are double insulated these days and don't have three core cables any longer as they do not require to be earthed...check first though...double insulated symbol is a square inside another square and is usually stamped on the appliance..usually at the rear near the mains cable ..Alan.

When I first moved out here 2 years ago I had a truck full of my house goods DVD VIDEO TV HI-FI LAPTOPS SAT EQUIPMENT and other's and everything works here just used a 3pin to Turkish 2 pin plugs. I was told also that some of them won't work but everything I bought here work's 100%.

Some of the stuff I put in my baggage when I few over here the first few years Like VIDEO's and my PSX consol's as well.

Hope this helps. Don't keep them in there boxes or plastic rapping and they will say they are NEW and then they will charge you.
